Workshops for festivals
We love to take our stories out and about as it can benefit children greatly. To find out more about Tonya and Natasha, the authors, please visit our Authors page.
How do author visits benefit children?
- Gives them a deeper understanding of history or geography topics. All our stories are based on the themes within the history and geography curriculum. See the 'our stories' section below.
- Helps improve children's story writing. Hearing and retelling stories provides the framework for children's own stories.
- Improves literacy. Helps to develop listening skills as well as developing and enriching spoken language.
- Builds emotional intelligence and vocabulary. By empathising with the character it helps children develop the vocabulary of emotions and the non verbal ways of expressing it.
Our stories cover the adventures of a little dog called Pojo. When Pojo's owner Sam goes to sleep Pojo comes to life, he gets itchy paws and goes off on adventures. His adventures find him learning about all sorts of things such as the Normans, Ancient Egypt, The Gunpowder Plot, Deforestation as well as compass points and island geography when he meets some Pirates!
We adapt each story for two age ranges or abilities, our early years version is aimed at 3-6 year olds, so those covered by EYFS and Key Stage One and our young readers versions are for 6-9 year olds or those covered by Key Stage Two.
We work with primary schools, nurseries, pre-schools, after school clubs, childminders, libraries and charity fun days in Wiltshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Gloucestershire. We will travel to other areas but expenses will be charged.
